About the Order of the Companions of Martha and Mary

Martha sought to serve her Lord in showing hospitality to those who came to her house - Mary sat at her Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching - both served well.

The Order of the Companions of Martha and Mary seeks to adopt the attributes of these friends of Jesus by seeking to serve God in the prayerful active service of daily living, in the Daily Offices of the Church, and in the silence of prayerful contemplation.

Our vocation is a way of Christian discipleship which seeks to balance the activity of Martha with the contemplation of Mary by a vowed life, lived in simplicity; and in the ordinary every day activities of life to serve God and witness to God’s continued loving presence in the world.
